AUSTIN, Texas – Dec. 4, 2020 – Hanger Clinic prosthetists in Nebraska and Ohio helped patients Nathan Leetsch and Hayley Wilson achieve their personalized goals by fitting them with custom-designed prosthetic devices just in time for Thanksgiving. Ten-year-old Nathan Leetsch, from Fremont, Neb., was fit with his first set of prosthetic running blades thanks to his prosthetist John Boldt, CPO, and 21-year-old nursing student Hayley Wilson from Wilmington, Ohio, was fit with her new, 3D-printed myoelectric Hero Arm by her prosthetist, Tom Gore, CPO.
Leetsch took his first steps with his new running blades after being fit at the Hanger Clinic in Omaha, Neb. With his new blades, courtesy of a collaboration between the Blade 5K charitable organization and Hanger Clinic, Leetsch has already started running and is excited to practice his baseball and soccer skills. Leetsch hopes to one day be the first astronaut in the limb loss and limb difference community.
Born without her left hand, Wilson learned to adapt early in life and always felt a calling to help others. With the support of her local community, Wilson was fit with her custom-designed Hero Arm at the Hanger Clinic in Fairfield, Ohio, and is excited to use its new functionality to help fulfill her goal of becoming a nurse.
