AUSTIN, Texas – Nov. 2, 2017 – The Hanger Charitable Foundation completed its second round of 2017 grant awards, giving $56,500 to six non-profit organizations. Since its first award to Angel City Games in May 2015, the Foundation has given more than $800,000 to more than 35 non-profits that share its mission to empower people with physical challenges to live life as fully as possible.
The most recent grant recipients include local and national organizations that serve a variety of communities, including children with craniosynostosis and both children and adults with limb loss or limb difference:
Austin Blades Sled Hockey Corporation, Sled Hockey for Individuals with Physical Challenges – $5,000 to support adaptive sled hockey camps and tournaments.
Challenged Athletes Foundation, Access for Athletes – $25,000 to provide adaptive sports equipment, coaching, mentoring and competition expenses to people with physical challenges.
Cranio Care Bears, Advocacy, Awareness and Family Support – $10,000 to provide support through care packages to families of children facing surgery for craniosynostosis.
Disabled Sports USA, Ski Spectacular – $10,000 to support youth with limb loss or limb difference during a six-day adaptive winter sports camp.
Girl Scouts of Central Texas, Inc., GSCTX Helping Hands – $1,500 to fund a service project where girls will learn how to use technology to make an impact in the lives of people with physical challenges.
Power on with Limb Loss, National Conference and Events – $5,000 to support educating and mentoring people with limb loss or limb difference through community activities, sports, and outreach.
