Center unites clinical care, advanced education, and national fabrication under one roof

HARTFORD, Connecticut- April 8, 2026- Yesterday, Hanger Clinic, a national leader in orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) patient care services and solutions, and the University of Hartford officially unveiled a groundbreaking new collaborative healthcare facility in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, with three distinct operations under one roof:

  • The University of Hartford’s Master of Science Program in Prosthetics and Orthotics

  • A Hanger Clinic Full-service O&P Patient Care Facility

  • A Hanger Fabrication Network National O&P Fabrication Facility

The opening marks a significant milestone for O&P in Connecticut and across the country, and reflects nearly 20 years of shared collaboration, innovation, and purpose between Hanger and the University of Hartford.

By integrating clinical care, advanced education, and large-scale fabrication of prosthetic and orthotic devices in one facility, the Rocky Hill center establishes a new blueprint for how the O&P field can evolve — accelerating innovation, strengthening the clinical experience of students entering the field, and improving outcomes for patients.

“We are not just opening a new facility — we’re stepping into the next chapter of a partnership that has consistently raised the bar for what’s possible in orthotics and prosthetics,” said Pete Stoy, CEO of Hanger Clinic. “Bringing together clinical care, advanced education, and national-scale fabrication under a single roof is a model for what the future of O&P looks like, and we are proud to carry our shared legacy forward in this extraordinary space.”

The unveiling is especially meaningful as it falls during April — Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month — shining a spotlight on the more than 40,000 Connecticut residents living with limb loss or limb difference, and the transformative work being done to serve them.

“When we imagine the power of a contemporary university partnering with a private organization, and the profound impact such collaboration can have on our students and on communities far beyond our campus, this partnership exemplifies that vision,” said University of Hartford President Lawrence P. Ward. “This is what transformative education looks like in action. We are grateful to our colleagues at Hanger for working with us to make this exceptional facility a reality.”

The event drew nearly 100 leaders from healthcare, education, advocacy, and state and local government from across Connecticut.
