Austin, Texas, July 13, 2017 – This week, Hanger Clinic announced via a Facebook Live broadcast alongside Winter the dolphin, the launch of its #AmputeeLifeHacks contest. According to the dictionary, a “life hack” is defined as “a strategy or technique adopted in order to manage one’s time and daily activities in a more efficient way.” With the launch of the three-month #AmputeeeLifeHacks contest, Hanger Clinic is bringing the phenomenon to the limb loss and limb difference community, where entrants are encouraged to submit a short video showcasing a tip or trick that helps them conquer everyday tasks. The goal of the contest is to connect the limb loss and limb difference community online, providing an opportunity to learn from one another, and receive encouragement.
The grand prize winner and a guest will receive a trip to meet movie star and amputee Winter the dolphin, who resides at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida. In addition to the grand prize winner, a panel of judges will select a monthly winner throughout the three-month contest, with a prize of a $100 gift card and Hanger Clinic t-shirt. Following the conclusion of the contest period, ten finalists will be announced in late October 2017, and voting will open to the public for a two-week period. The grand prize winner will be announced in mid-November 2017.
