San Francisco, Calif., Oct. 19, 2017 – After wildfires destroyed nine-year-old Lilly Biagini and her mother Jessica’s Santa Rosa, California home, they lost everything in it, including Lilly’s prosthetic legs. For Lilly, who was born with a rare muscular condition that led her to choose to amputate both legs above-the-knee in 2014, the loss of her independence and mobility was devastating. NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and The Today Show featured the story of how Lilly’s Hanger Clinic prosthetic team in San Francisco, in partnership with SPS National Labs in Orlando, and manufacturers Endolite and College Park, were able to fit Lilly with new legs and get her back on her feet.
