NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt profiles families attending limb difference camp supported by Hanger Clinic

Rome, Maine, Aug. 24, 2017 – For the Cosgrove family, being able to attend a camp designed for children with limb loss or limb difference was life-changing. NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt followed the family of four during their first-time experiences at Camp No Limits in Rome, Maine, where, in addition to an enjoyable camp experience, the focus is also on education, mentorship, peer support, and community-building for the whole family.

Beginning in 2014, Hanger has provided funding for the Hanger Kids Scholarship to Camp No Limits, covering the cost of attendance, lodging, meals, and included activities for pediatric amputees and an accompanying parent or guardian at any of the Camp No Limits camps available nationwide. The Cosgrove family were among the scholarship recipients for the Rome, Maine camp.

The NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt segment also includes Waterville, Maine-based Hanger Clinic Area Clinic Manager Scott Hebert, CPO, who has been involved with the camp since its inception in 2004. Hanger Clinic employees participate in the program as volunteers and mentors, as well as providing professional and clinical education for families in attendance.
