Oklahoma City, Okla., March 21, 2018 – Though 23-year-old Marina Z. Nakhla has been an amputee and a prosthetics user since before the age of two, attending the April 2017 Hanger Clinic Bilateral Above-Knee Amputee Bootcamp in Oklahoma City was one of her first experiences with the limb loss and limb difference community. At the annual event, which is designed to increase mobility and independence for double above-knee amputees, Nakhla challenged herself on a ramp course and practiced daily skills such as learning how to get back up after a fall. Nakhla described the impact of listening to other attendees share their personal journeys, and sharing her own, in the March/April 2018 edition of Amplitude magazine:

“Sharing the stories was an indescribably powerful part of the experience. It’s liberating to know that you aren’t alone and that others have had similar struggles.”
