SOUTH BEND, Ind., August 5, 2026 – Surestep, a leader in pediatric orthotic solutions, today announced the acquisition of JMMR, Inc.’s patented Blount’s KAFO Brace, a dynamic, non-surgical treatment for Blount’s Disease that enables children to receive corrective therapy while walking, playing, and growing normally.
The Blount’s KAFO Brace applies corrective forces throughout daily movement via a patented swivel hinge and elastic strap design that allows correction to occur even when children walk or play. Clinical research from Rutgers University demonstrates that when treatment begins before age 3, the brace corrects tibia vara with a mean treatment duration of 11 months, improving tibiofemoral angles from an average of 19.2° varus to 0.7° valgus. In many cases, it eliminates the need for corrective surgery.
The brace has earned recognition from leading pediatric orthopedic centers, including a recent presentation at NYU Langone Medical Center on dynamic approaches to early-onset Blount’s disease treatment.
