Omaha, Neb., Nov. 9, 2017 – Conquering a 5K-distance race had been Omaha native Sharan Bryson’s dream for years, and when she crossed the finish line in September as part of the Omaha Marathon events weekend, her dream became a reality. No stranger to overcoming challenges, Bryson, whose left leg was amputated below-the-knee in 2009, lost 100 pounds in the year leading up to the race. She also put in many hours of preparation and training with her Hanger Clinic physical therapist, Darren Stoop, DPT. A team of more than a dozen supporters—including Stoop, Bryson’s Hanger Clinic prosthetist Mark Maguire, CPO, and others from her Hanger Clinic Omaha team—joined Bryson on the 5K course and cheered her on from the sidelines.
